New Delhi: Petrol and diesel prices in the country have once again plagued the common man. In many cities, citizens have to pay more than Rs 90 for petrol. On this issue, the BJP government at the Center has got a home run.

BJP leader Subramaniam Swamy has targeted the government over rising petrol prices. Swamy tweeted that the government is in trouble.

‘Petrol price reaching Rs 90 per liter is utter exploitation of the people by the Indian government. The price of petrol at the refinery is Rs 30 per liter. This is followed by an increase of Rs 60 for all taxes and petrol pump commission. In my opinion, petrol should be sold at a maximum price of Rs 40 per liter, ‘tweeted Subramaniam Swamy.

As the railways are closed in cities like Mumbai, citizens have the option of public transport or private transport. In the Corona pandemic, many citizens are preferring private vehicles. In Mumbai, petrol is priced at Rs 90.34 per liter while diesel is priced at Rs 80.51 per liter.

In the national capital, petrol is being sold at Rs 83.71 per liter and diesel at Rs 73.87 per liter on Tuesday. In Kolkata, petrol costs Rs 85.19 per liter and diesel Rs 77.44 per liter. In Chennai, petrol is priced at Rs 86.51 per liter and diesel at Rs 79.21 per liter.

On Sunday, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had said that the decision to increase crude oil production by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) would help stabilize fuel prices.
