New Delhi: The world’s tallest railway bridge to be built in Jammu and Kashmir is nearing completion. The bridge has been under construction for more than three years. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal lauded the work, calling it a ‘unique structure’ in infrastructure.

The bridge is 476 meters long and is built on a steel base over the Chenab River in Jammu and Kashmir. The Railway Minister has also shared a photo of the bridge through social media. He has captioned this photo as ‘Infrastructure Marvel in Making’.

Work on the bridge started in November 2017. A staggering Rs 1250 crore is being spent on this bridge. The bridge will be 359 meters above the banks of the River Chenab and 35 meters above the famous Eiffel Tower in Paris. Also, the total length of this bridge will be 1315 meters.

According to railway officials, the bridge can withstand an earthquake measuring 8 on the Richter scale or even a high-intensity explosion. The bridge will also have a potential terrorist threat and an earthquake safety system.
