Prime Minister Modi will lay the foundation stone of the new Parliament House today
New Delhi:Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of the new Sansad Bhavan on Thursday, December 10. The ground breaking ceremony for the new Parliament House will begin at 12.55 pm. Prime Minister Modi will pay homage and lay the foundation stone at 1 pm. After this, there will be inter-religious prayers at 1.30 pm and Prime Minister Modi will address the audience at 2.15 pm. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will also be present on the occasion.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Venkatesh Joshi, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep S. Puri, Rajya Sabha Deputy Speaker Harivansh Narayan Singh will also be present on the occasion. Apart from this, Union Ministers, MPs, Secretaries, Ambassadors and High Commissioners will also be present on the occasion.

Vice President and Rajya Sabha Speaker M. Venkaiah Naidu and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla had on August 5, 2019, during the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha sittings, proposed the construction of a new Parliament House. After this, action was taken by the General Purpose Committee under the chairmanship of the Speaker of the Lok Sabha. The committee had submitted a plan for the new Parliament House building. It was also recommended that all the artists and sculptors in the country would contribute to show the cultural diversity of India.
The new parliament building will have great facilities

The new Parliament House will be constructed on Plot No. 118 adjacent to the present Parliament House. The layout of the new Parliament House provides for better facilities, proper location and state-of-the-art technology to meet current and future needs.
