New Delhi: Vaccination against corona is in full swing in India. More than 54 lakh people have been vaccinated against coronavirus in the country so far. The Union Health Ministry said this on Saturday. So far, a total of 56,36,868 beneficiaries have been vaccinated. Of these, more than 52 lakh are health workers. Uttar Pradesh is the leading in vaccination in the country. In UP, 6,73,542 people have been vaccinated. India has become the first country in the world to vaccinate more than 5 million people in just 21 days.

Uttar Pradesh at number one

In terms of vaccination, UP ranks first, Maharashtra ranks second and Rajasthan ranks third. In Maharashtra, 4,34,943 people have been vaccinated, in Rajasthan 4,14,422, and in Karnataka 3,60,592 people have been vaccinated, PTI reported. In the last 24 hours, 10,502 centers were vaccinated. A total of 457,404 people were given the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, according to the Union Health Ministry.

Vaccination for citizens above 50 years of age from March

So far, 1,06,303 vaccination sessions have been conducted in the country. Of those vaccinated in the last 24 hours, 3,01,537 are health workers and 1,55,867 are health workers. Union Health Minister Dr. Harshvardhan informed the Lok Sabha about vaccination on Friday. The process of vaccinating citizens above the age of 50 can start from the second or third week of March, said Harshvardhan.

Expenditure of Rs 480 crore on vaccination of employees

The government has set a target of vaccinating one crore health workers in the first phase. Vaccination of frontline employees has started on February 2. The government aims to vaccinate two crore frontline workers. A total of Rs 480 crore will be spent on vaccination of three crore health workers and leading workers, the Center said in the Lok Sabha.
